COVID-19
A message from the President of Concept Rehab, Martha Shaker
Our industry is experiencing a time unlike any other. Our employees, partners and residents are facing unprecedented challenges in the fight against COVID-19. Our therapists are working side by side with our customer partners to continue to care for the most vulnerable population. Stories of hope and heroes from the frontlines are starting to roll in and provide a positive outlook for the future.
As the President of Concept Rehab, I wanted to assure all of those impacted by this pandemic that your safety and health are fundamental. Our response has been directed by our emergency preparedness plan, rapid response and the executive orders and guidelines at the state and national levels. Our Executive Leadership team works daily to respond immediately and effectively to changing regulatory requirements keeping our therapists, patients and customers as our top priority.
Early on in this fight, we recognized the need to change many of our daily operations in order to adhere to guidelines and to assure the health and well-being of all. This includes:
FOLLOWING CMS REGULATIONS
-
Discontinue Group and Concurrent modes
-
Disallow travel between facilities
-
Emphasize critical importance of Universal Precautions
-
Provide education on proper PPE use

DIRECTORS OF OPERATIONS WORKING REMOTELY
-
Enhance communication with clinicians and customers
-
Address critical needs
-
Maintain compliance
-
Bolster morale
-
Employ videoconferencing to best support the field

Ensuring that our clinical teams in hard hit facilities are safe, means sourcing PPE to provide support to our customers. As all providers in healthcare are experiencing, this has been a challenge. We were able to facilitate gathering PPE through gracious donations from local EMA offices.

CLINICAL DEVELOPMENT TEAM FOCUS
-
Identify new telehealth/e-visit opportunities to provide the best care while reducing risk
-
Research boards, Department of Health and state healthcare associations to assess ability to provide direct care to residents
-
Stay abreast of state-specific executive orders and available resources for employees
-
Identify unintended consequences as a result of isolation and quarantine
-
Educate teams on the risks of patient isolation emphasizing continued collaboration with the interdisciplinary teams

I have always been extremely proud of Concept Rehab employees who deliver exceptional care while embracing our founding principles of Commitment, Respect and Integrity. This has never been more true than during this pandemic as their resilience and courage has been so evident in the care they provide, the smiles they bring and the well-being they instill in those they care for. These heroes and this hope will guide us as we navigate the coming months.
Sincerely,
Martha Shaker
